We’ve caught up with interior and menswear stylist, art director and good friend of Hamilton and Hare, Tom O’Dell, to see how he has changed his routine and adapting his working day since the recent shift. We asked Tom a few questions to get an insight into his new kind of day.
Are you changing the way your dress now that we are in quarantine, and if so any tips?
I’m keeping to my daily routine including getting up and dressed like normal. Up at 8am for a tea and to check my emails, a nice long shower, moisturise and pick out my outfit for the day. I love and work in clothes and feel I wouldn’t be able to start my day without getting dressed for the day ahead…
The extra time at home has allowed be to sort through all my wardrobes which has been handy! I then have a quick change for my daily run/workout then shower and back to my day at home.
Has your working day changed much, how're you having to adapt?
My daily routine has completely changed. My weeks are normally very varied both with jobs I’m working on and location. One day it might be an interior project , the next a menswear shoot. If I’m not working on set or on a shoot then I spend my time running around London on my Vespa meeting people for fittings, at my studio, visiting antique markets, picking up clothes for shoots or meeting with clients to discuss projects. This has now changed but I’ve enjoyed spending more time at home. I’ve been speaking to clients via zoom, taking more time to hand draw out ideas and doing research.
Do you have any tips or recommendations for keeping motivated and occupied?
When I’ve not been working I’ve been spending a lot of time in the garden, working out, reading and making art. I’ve enjoyed @getfitwithclift Tuesday’s live stream workouts and of course taking tips for the garden from Monty and Gardener's World.
