Icon of the month: Ernest Hemingway

Icon of the month: Ernest Hemingway - Hamilton and Hare | The Journal

Ernest Hemingway, ‘Nesto’ to his multiple wives, was a keen boxer from a young age. His writing reflected many of the attributes found in the ring in its lean, hard and athletic prose in contrast to the more literary, florid writing of the time.

As well as winning the Nobel Prize for Literature, Hemingway was a successful amateur boxer and even had a boxing ring built in his garden so he could spar with guests at his home.
