To celebrate the launch of our new loungewear collection we sat down with some of the best industry insiders from the world of menswear for an insight into life behind the lens and what they like to do and wear in their downtime.
The Rakish Gent has a wide range of excellent reading to fill a midweek lunch hour - from his simple 'pick of the week' style tips to a round up of Burning Man. We caught up with author, Tajinder to find out what goes on behind the scenes.
Beyond the invitations and the street style snaps we know there is a lot more to being a blogger. Maintaining a great site and following takes time and effort. So, what is a typical day for you?
Every day is really different. As The Rakish Gent is a magazine, I spent a lot of time curating new content - whether that be arranging interviews for spotlight pieces, speaking with brands about new collections or meeting with stylists and photographers to develop new and unique editorial content. Invitations to great events are always most welcome and a perfect way to round off a busy day!
Could you tell us a little more about what you get up to in you spare time?
To be honest, I find it difficult to wind down. The Rakish Gent started as a "passion project" that grew to be a viable publication so I spent a lot of time thinking about how to make it different to the other fashion sites and magazines out there. Ways to wind down include a great movie and a glass of wine, a weights workout in the gym after a long day and spending a little time on looking better - whether that be with a quick tidy up hair appointment or trialling new grooming products.
Your blog often focuses on fashion-forward street style. How you dress in your downtime is always seen to be secondary, is this the case for you?
Very much so. I live to look smart but not too sartorial. My go to outfit would consist of tailored trousers, a great pair of shoes and a statement overcoat for the autumn. When lounging I love to wear Hamilton and Hare and the new collection is full of pieces that I would wear. I am especially coveting the grey jersey sweat zip top & shorts combination and the smarter mulberry house trousers.
