Hamilton + Hare x Jonathan Lawes

Hamilton + Hare x Jonathan Lawes

We're pleased to announce that our collaboration with south London printmaker Jonathan Lawes continues with a pair of swimming trunks, made with an innovative yarn from recycled plastic bottles.

As you may remember, last summer we teamed up with artist Jonathan Lawes on a limited edition underwear set. They went down a treat, with lots of feedback asking for outerwear using the same colourful abstract print. We'd been toying with the idea of a swimming short for a while, so this felt like the right opportunity to join the threads.

We used innovative recycled fabric which has the look and feel expected from high quality swimwear with added environmental benefits. In particular, the inner mesh is made from plastic bottles collected from the sea and processed in a recycling plant in Italy.

On this year's collaboration, Jonathan says: "I love the swim shorts and feel they’re the perfect extension of what we did last year with the boxers. Now there’s a real opportunity to show off the design whether you’re chilling at home, relaxing by a pool somewhere or exploring a city in the summer."

You can watch our interview with Jonathan, where he explains his creative process and gives advice to aspiring artists here.
