Notable opening: Chiltern Firehouse
Sit up look sharp. If the names Nuno Mendes and André Balazs mean nothing to you then you haven't been paying attention. Balazs, of Chateau Marmont, The Mercer and The Standard fame, celebrates his first London venture with the opening of The Chiltern Firehouse, a Grade II listed former firehouse (you probably guessed) now turned hotel and restaurant. That should be enough to peak your interest, but why stop there? Balazs stole Michelin starred chef Nuno Mendes (formerly of much lauded Viajante) to run the restaurant. Coup.
But really what matters are the following words 'chargrilled Iberico pork' and 'braised short rib' because they won't be bested.
