Care For Our Cotton

All our underwear and loungewear is made in Europe from the finest natural fibres including cotton, cashmere, silk and lyocell - a natural plant fibre made from Eucalyptus tree wood pulp. We believe that natural fibres, rather than synthetics, are important because our clothing sits next to the skin and they offer a perfect combination of softness, durability, breathability and hypoallergenic properties that synthetics can't match. These natural fibres are more delicate than synthetics and as a result we have a few pointers to help keep them looking their best for longer.

Underwear gets the most intense wash and wear of your entire wardrobe so it's worth remembering that you will need to replace more often than outerwear garments. There's no hard and fast rule on this and the more pairs you have in rotation the less intense wear so it can be an economy to stock up. We recommend at least 10 -15 pairs in rotation and with good washing practices these should still be looking their best 12-18 months later.

Here are some washing guide tips to keep your underwear looking it's best:

1. Don't tumble dry

Never tumble dry your clothes. Don't give in to temptation you will regret it. As all our underwear and loungewear is made from natural fibres, they are damaged by the heat and result in fraying and shrinkage. Hanging your underwear to dry ensures the elasticity isn't damaged and they retain their perfect fit.

2. Don't use fabric softener
Contrary to popular belief, fabric softener is damaging to woven cotton fabrics, especially our two-ply combed cottons. The tight weave means the softener gets trapped and leaves behind a slightly sticky, silicone-like coating. Leave it out of the next wash and see the difference.

3. Iron your boxers

We believe that underwear should be treated with the same respect as the rest of the items in your wardrobe. Iron your boxers along with your shirts with lots of steam and you'll be amazed how good they feel to put on in the morning.

4. Keep it cool
Wash your underwear and loungewear in a 30 degree wash. Modern machines and detergents mean you don't need to use a higher temperature to get things really clean anymore. Select a low spin cycle to prevent creasing too.
